I’m originally from Harnett County, but moved to Durham to find better services that Harnett County didn’t offer. I ended up finding a lot more than services - I found family. I learned about StepUp through Urban Ministries of Durham, when StepUp staff invited folks to their workshops.
StepUp Durham’s support gave me the confidence to speak about myself in a positive way during the interview process. I recently used this skill for the housekeeping job that I wanted and I got the job! I love housekeeping because I get to use my skills, my past experience, and my passion for cleaning. It's good hard work and it pays well, but my favorite part about this job is getting to meet new people.
StepUp Durham is fabulous! Even after I got hired, StepUp Durham stuck with me and supported me in my job. I’m happy to be here. I couldn’t ask for better friends or better family than what I’ve found here at StepUp Durham.
