Support & Research Projects

Through our partnership with StepUp Durham, SUSO-NC has provided $18,439.83 worth of trauma-informed mental health services to individuals and families affected by trauma.

This collaboration allows us to extend our reach and impact, ensuring that those directly and indirectly impacted by adversity receive the care and support they need to heal and thrive. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in our community, fostering resilience and empowering lives.

Fidelity (2023)

  • Improved Step1 and Step2’s virtual content and learning opportunities

  • Team of 10+ volunteers from Fidelity researched and created a way to host our Step1 and Step2 content online to ensure easy participant access

  • Rollout is on hold as we just transitioned to a new version of our website but within the next year, we will have shorts online to support participants and job seekers wherever they are and whenever they need some help and insights for employment skills

Elon (2023 & 2024)

  • Data Analytics

  • Team of four undergrad students processed the entirety of all StepUp program data to allow for data analytics

  • Our website now displays our all-time programs data with an analytics tool that allows for more nuanced and deeper understanding of the data

Occupational Therapy (2023 - 2024)

  • Outreach/Prison Engagement

  • OT PhD student analyzed our current strategies for engaging communities of incarcerated people

  • Created a playbook for engaging local incarceration facilities with calendars, content, and contacts to ensure StepUp can serve in incarceration facilities at least once per quarter

We’re excited to launch our 2024 Fall Campaign! Generous donors Phil Spiro and Linda Raftery will match up to $35,000 in new, increased, or renewed donations, PLUS one year’s worth of any new, recurring monthly gifts. For example, if a donor signed up to give $100/month, $1,200 would count toward the match!
